Colocation terms and conditions

Power

Power to the data center is provided from two independent 2 MW municipal feeds, which lead to two new, independently redundant transformer substations. The uninterruptible power supply is provided by two 4-unit Libert NXa 200 KVA UPS clusters (N+1), with a guaranteed run-time of at least 10 minutes under full load. In the event that both power feeds are cut off, power will be automatically fed from the center’s FG Wilson diesel generators.

The generators are capable of fully powering the data center and are specially designed for launching at temperatures as low as -30°C. The generators can run for 24 hours before needing to be refueled.

Connectivity

The data center is connected to St. Petersburg’s primary Internet traffic exchange points, located at Bolshaya Morskaya 18 and Borovaya 57, and the Dubrovka data centers by Selectel’s private fiber-optic line. Cables travel along North-West Telecom’s underground cable ducts and overhead lines. Connections to the following telecommunications providers are currently available: VimpelCom, TeliaSonera, Megafon, MTS, Rostelecom, Severen-Telecom, TransTeleCom, RTComm.RU, Retn.Net, RasCom, OBIT, Runnet.ru, Edpnet, and more. The data center is also home to the Data-IX and Pirix traffic exchange points.

Cooling

The microclimate in the server area is maintained by EMICON precision air conditioners (N+1). Equipment is cooled using the hot and cold aisle principle, whereby air cooled by the AC units is channeled under the raised floor to the equipment. This method keeps the temperature in cold aisles at +20±2°С.

Security

The data center has been equipped with the latest security systems, including unauthorized access prevention systems to the building and server rooms. Entry to the data center and server area is controlled around-the-clock by armed guards, and over one hundred surveillance cameras monitor entryways and areas within and outside the building. Every area in the data center is equipped with a magnetic card access control system and fire alarms.

In the event that both feeds are cut off, an FG Wilson diesel generator has been installed with an automatic start system.

The entire power supply is backed up in a 2N redundancy system. If one or two feeds go down on the main switchgear, the command is automatically sent to start the diesel generators. The generators have been designed to serve as the data center’s main power supply and are N+1 redundant. The on-site fuel supply is enough to power the data center for 48 hours.

Connectivity

The data center is connected to St. Petersburg’s primary Internet traffic exchange points, located at Bolshaya Morskaya 18 and Borovaya 57, and the Dubrovka data centers by Selectel’s private fiber-optic line. A third feed from the diesel generators gives the power distribution system its 1st class power supply reliability rating.

The uninterruptible power supply is provided by two independent General Electric clusters (2N) with a guaranteed run-time of at least 10 minutes under full load. The power distribution system in the server room provides server cabinets with dual feeds. Redundancy is provided by four Wilson diesel generator clusters (N+1), which can automatically take over loads via an automatic transfer switch. The generators are capable of fully powering the data center and can run for 24 hours before needing to be refueled.

Cooling

The microclimate in the server area is maintained by an absorbent refrigeration system that runs on natural gas. Air conditioners can also use the temperature of the outside air to cool server equipment. Equipment is cooled according to the hot and cold aisle principle, keeping air in cold aisles at +20±2°С. The air-conditioning system is N+1 redundant.

Security

The Dubrovka data center campus is located on private property; no other organizations are present on the grounds.

The data center has been equipped with the latest security systems, including unauthorized access prevention systems to the building and server rooms. The territory is enclosed by a metal fence with barbed wire. Surveillance cameras and motion detectors are located along the perimeter. Movement within the data center is controlled by an access control system. Every area in the data center has been fitted with a magnetic card access control system, security cameras, fire alarms, and security systems. Automatic gaseous fire suppression systems have been installed in server areas. HFC-125 is used as extinguishing agent as it is a clean agent and safe for people.

Activity is monitored along the perimeter and at each entryway and area within the data center campus, including server rooms, by 50 surveillance cameras. Video is recorded and displayed at the central security post. Armed guards are posted at the entrance to the territory and each data center.

The uninterruptible power supply is provided by six General Electric UPS clusters in an N+1 configuration, which guarantee at least a 10 minute run-time under full load. In the event the power supply is cut off, two Gesan diesel generators will automatically take over. The generators are capable of fully powering the data center and are specially designed for starting at temperatures as low as -30°C. The generators can run for 24 hours before refueling.

Connectivity

The data center has its own fiber-optic line to the MMTS-9 Internet exchange point.
